Here is a psych evaluation for a possible hacker. This should answer your question.
Often during repetitive or seemingly normal tasks, do you find your mind wondering off to comp-sec related subjects?
E.G.
When you see a clock on a windows based P.C:\ do you:
Wonder how the time update server works on windows?
Wonder what kind of information is transmitted and over what protocol?
Think of ways to emulate the server?
Come up with ways to emulate the server?
Emulate the server.
Start sending data back to a P.C?
Explore possible attack vectors?
Realize this all started by looking at a clock and now you have a beard and a pile of red bull cans on your desk three weeks later?
Come up with no real possible RE vector and feel totally justified in your efforts because you changed time?
Realize that time is a powerful thing.
Still jittery and half dead from your last en devour do you see the windows update icon right next to the clock and start all over?
