DNS Question

Hello,

I started cosidering to use CloudFlare DNS servers and not my ISP.
What advantage besides privacy I get when using CloudFlare ones.

Take that in Croatia my ISP is not allowed to monitor my traffic. Im not sure do they see my history of visited sites because of DNS.

Using cloudflare's or google's DNS does not mask your history of visited websites from your ISP and it never has.

Using other DNS providers than your ISP does help provide additional anonymity. Just think - every time you load a website, there may be a DNS resolution. Example: You load r4p3.net (which your ISP translates to the 104...... blah blah) for our CF cloud proxy.

Google may (or may not) offer better protection than your ISP. I know it is recommended to use your own/custom DNS if you are trying to REALLY be anonymous.

Here are some DNS resolvers you could try:
https://www.isc.org/downloads/bind/
https://www.knot-resolver.cz

I have heard more about BIND.

Also, from a tracking perspective sometimes you may have DNS leaking by using your ISP. There are many DNS solutions, it can be a hard decision to make. It really depends what you want.

Want to block porn using DNS configurations on your router/network? https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/ then lock down DNS settings on the system(s) connected e.g. guest account or non-admin account on Windows I believe.

When I choose DNS speed is my number one priority, second thing is DNS propagation, my ISP is very slow with that and thats biggest con.
I will think about it one more day.

Yes, if you select automatically - your system will attempt to get your ISP's DNS back.

You may also configure your DNS settings on your WiFi router, this makes sure all your devices connected use that (1.1.1.1). And likewise, if you decide to take that off your router, it will default back to your ISP's DNS.

I changed IPv6 too, how can I check if my settings are applied?
