Have you tried changing the application language back to something like german or french and then to english again ?

That was it, it broke the theme because it automatically switched to French. Any advice on how can I make the theme work with french ?

You can create a french TPL file with the same content.

Got it to work, just copied the main files and added a "_fr" at the end, for the three files, and it worked. For any spanish user that had the same bug, I think you'll have to add "_es" instead of "_fr".
